Hello to everyone visiting this page. It occurred to me recently that some of my customers might want to know more about myself and where I work on their packages. Therefore, the following is just a bit of information about where your orders are coming from and how I conduct your business.
First of all, you should know that I work from my home which is a farm but is very close to downtown Pittsburgh, Pa. I am supposed to be of retirement age but somehow that is not my lot in life and I find myself enjoying work more and more as time goes on. I think it comes from my feeling that I am helping to contribute to the happiness and well-being of so many ever loving, furniture eating, baby licking, loyal to the end, Pooches everywhere.
The desire to have a business like this started not long ago when I bought my first computer and discovered that I could see the bottom of the page by pulling down on the bar on the right side of the screen (better known as a scroll bar). Not long after I bought my inventory, I put my first product up on line and low and behold someone bid on it and then they even paid for it and then even wrote a nice note to me about how much her dogs loved my product. Now that is a very fulfilling thing to happen. That was in January of 2005.
The business has grown but not so much that I have to delegate the fun parts that are important to me. My favorite things are packing each order along with picking out a free gift or two, enjoying the challenges of making the morning mail truck and seeing pictures of pets that my customers send of their beautiful dogs and cats. My un-favorite part is correcting the overcharges on the shipping that doesn’t work right on the products that are sold by the piece. I don’t mind doing it, but I can’t figure out why it happens sometimes and not other times. So please don’t be afraid to mention it to me. I am here all of the time. Now you know my secrets.
There is an old carriage house on the farm that I remodeled and use for my inventory. A photo is in the background of this script. It is kept very clean and your products are stored in large covered bins as if for human consumption. I keep the space air conditioned in the summer to keep the humidity down and your bully sticks fresh. Your yogurt dipped cookies and pet birthday cake mixes are kept in freezers to keep them fresh. I do all of my wrapping and packing in the old farm house dining room that is close to my computer. If you are wondering why I do not just wrap in the carriage house, it is because when the bully stick shipment first comes in, I have to open the boxes to let them air out. By the time they get to your house they still have a light butcher shop odor, but boy do the fresh shipments smell strong. I had the option of buying the odor free ones, but the odor is removed by using bleach and the residue of bleach is very hard on a dog’s digestive track. So---I put up with the odor. I recently read a veterinary article that said that bully sticks are so nutritious that they can be used to replace a meal for some dogs. As Martha always said -–that is a good thing.
There is one more disclosure I need to make. I have noticed many sites on line say that the product comes from a non-smoking and pet free establishment. There is no smoking here but it sure isn’t pet free. As you can well imagine, the carriage house is off limits to my two old chocolate labs. They like to hover at the door way, however. Their names are Poppa Choppa and Scrufalufagoose. These names evolved over time. Our Parson Russell Terrier (Jack Russell), Skippy dodo, has an affinity for beef jerky and it is the only thing that keeps him away from biting tires of cars coming up the driveway. Lastly, there is Otis the Millionth, my grandchildren’s new pug puppy.
We have cats too. There is Cotton Ball Kitty, Sarah, Jasper and Buzz Buzz. They are house broken now but prefer the barn so I can usually find them hanging out with my broodmares. There is one unusual animal here and that is a Blue Jay that I found a while back that was a little yellow fuzzy thing with an injured wing. His name is Bowdy and I am told he is co-dependent now. Even when I have offered to let him fly free, he fly’s back into his big cage. He has learned to mimic my phone ringing and so my phones ring all day, and night.
Well, that is all I can say except that I enjoy working for you and your pets very much and thank you so much for your patronage
